Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the KarSafe application operated by Tanris Technologies Pvt Ltd ("we", "us", "our"). By using KarSafe, you agree to these Terms.

1. Service Description

KarSafe is a secure document vault that allows you to store, organize, and export income and financial documents. Documents are encrypted on your device before storage.

2. Account Registration

• You must sign in using Google or Apple to create an account.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your vault PIN and recovery phrase.
• You must not share your account credentials with others.

3. Your Responsibilities

• Recovery Phrase: You are solely responsible for securely storing your 24-word recovery phrase. If you lose both your PIN and recovery phrase, we cannot recover your encrypted data.
• Lawful Use: You agree to use KarSafe only for lawful purposes and to store documents you have the legal right to possess.
• Accurate Information: You agree to provide accurate account information.

4. Encryption and Data Ownership

• You retain full ownership of all documents you upload.
• Documents are encrypted with keys derived from your PIN and recovery phrase. We do not have the ability to decrypt your documents.
• We are not responsible for data loss resulting from lost PINs, recovery phrases, or encryption keys.

5. Service Availability

• We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
• We may perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability, with reasonable notice when possible.
• We reserve the right to modify or discontinue features with reasonable notice.

6. Service Discontinuation

• In the unlikely event that we discontinue or wind down the KarSafe service, we will provide 90 days' notice via email and in-app notification.
• During this period, you will be able to export and download all your documents from the app.
• After the notice period, your data may be permanently deleted from our servers.

7. Data Availability and Infrastructure

• KarSafe's cloud infrastructure is designed for 99.99% durability and 99.95% availability. The likelihood of data loss or corruption is extremely low — affecting fewer than 1 in 10,000 stored documents over the lifetime of the service.
• In the unlikely event of an infrastructure disruption, a small number of affected documents may be temporarily unavailable or, in exceptional cases, unrecoverable.
• We shall not be liable for data loss or corruption arising from such events. We continuously invest in improving the durability and availability of our infrastructure to further reduce the likelihood of such occurrences.

8. Storage Allowance

KarSafe currently provides storage to all users at no cost. We may change the storage allowance, the included features, and whether KarSafe remains available at no cost — at our sole discretion, as we learn from real usage and as the service evolves. We will provide reasonable advance notice of material reductions when feasible.

If we reduce the storage allowance, your previously stored documents will remain accessible. Only new uploads beyond the new limit will be blocked until you free up space or remove older documents.

9. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Use the service to store illegal content.
• Attempt to bypass security measures or access other users' data.
• Use automated tools to access the service without permission.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the application.

10. Email Communications

By creating a KarSafe account, you consent to receive a bi-weekly newsletter from us covering the latest income tax case rulings and the ramifications of missing income proofs. These emails are sent from noreply@karsafe.in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link provided in every newsletter, without affecting your ability to use KarSafe.

11. Account Termination

• You can delete your account at any time from within the app.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
• Upon termination, your encrypted data will be permanently deleted.

12. Limitation of Liability

KarSafe is currently provided as a free service. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Tanris Technologies Pvt Ltd accepts no liability for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data or service interruptions, arising from your use of KarSafe.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

KarSafe is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free or uninterrupted.

14. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

15. Changes to Terms

• We may update these Terms from time to time.
• When we do, the updated version will be displayed in the app for your review.
• You must accept the updated Terms to continue using KarSafe.
